4G in INDIA

4G network is accepted to be launch by the end of 2014 in many states (including PUNJAB).
Our engineer friends are working hard for installing 4G towers all around.

as we know most of us still using 2G network and now it may possible that we will skip 3G network and directly shift to the 4G network.

but there is a problem with this, most of us are having 3G mobiles about 80%...
so if you want to shift to the 4G network you have to change your mobile too which is going to be important for you and also for the providers because their users still have 3G mobiles ..

Scotland Still a part of UK.

Scotland decides to be with UK and voted NO.

Free National Roaming By October 2013: Sibal

Free National Roaming By October 2013: Sibal

Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal has reiterated that free national mobile roaming is not only on the cards, but he went further to state that this will happen by October this year. As reported by NDTV, Sibal was speaking on the sidelines of the launch of the National Internet Registry (NIR), which will be India's very own agency to manage IP address allocation with the aim of reducing cost, as the country moves from IPv4 to IPv6. The National Telecom Policy (NTP) 2012 had announced last year that it plans to make roaming free across the country.
Sibal said, "TRAI has floated a consultation paper on it (national free roaming). So when TRAI 's recommendations come and after that, we will try to start free roaming before October". Currently, subscribers have to pay significant roaming charges for calls and SMSes. While the minister did not specifically state it, as a result of this move, subscribers will be able to retain their mobile numbers even after moving to another circle.
Mobile operators are not too happy about this though, as the move will require major changes in infrastructure and policy, but only benefit 10% of the total subscriber base that actually uses national roaming. Already reeling under the aftermath of the 2G spectrum scam and the looming prospect of a licence re-auction, the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) had expressed its displeasure, stating "...you are making the industry go through a churn for something that benefits only 10% of customers".
Another thorny issue in the implementation is the matter of inter-connect charges, which is the amount paid by one operator when its subscriber uses another operator's infrastructure while roaming, for circles where the former does not have sufficient coverage. Since mobile providers stand to lose on both roaming and inter-connect charges with the new policy, they might feel the need to hike call rates to make up for lost revenue.
Incidentally, 3G roaming is still illegal, according to a diktat of the Department of Telecommunications (DOT),and we can probably expect the decision to be upheld in the next NTP. The overall effect of the decision to allow free roaming will benefit a small minority, while the overwhelming majority that doesn't roam may now need to brace for a price hike if telecom operators decide to increase overall tariff to offset its revenue loss. Do you think that free roaming will be implemented by October 2013? Let us know in the comments.

Now Fundraising App For Girls' Education

Now Fundraising App For Girls' Education

On International Women's Day, Plan India, an NGO that works towards the upliftment of under-privileged children, will launch a web-based application to raise funds for the education of girls in the country, an official said here Thursday. The app based on the micro site www.educateagirl.org is being supported by women achievers like Indra Nooyi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Anu Aga, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Kirthiga Reddy, and Shobhaa De. To be launched under the aegis of "Because I am a Girl" campaign, the application projects a happy child, in mosaic, made of blocks.

Each block is worth a donation of Rs.500 and when a donor makes a contribution, his or her picture gets embedded in that block, providing the instant satisfaction of 'standing behind the girl child'. "There is no greater wish a woman can have on Women's Day than to have her own identity, economic self reliance and live a life of dignity. Only education makes that possible," said Bhagyashri Dengle, executive director, Plan India. "It is our collective responsibility to ensure that our girls go to school, graduate from college, join the workforce and change the world," said Kiran Mazumdar Shaw.
Plan India's primary objective under this campaign is to enable girls to enrol and complete quality primary and secondary education in a safe and supportive community environment. Through the fundraiser, Plan India aims to raise at least Rs.12 million to educate 2,000 girls in our country for one year. Plan India's 'Because I am a Girl' campaign aims to ensure over 3,40,000 girls remain in school and access quality education, 1,00,000 girls complete secondary school through various school improvement programs and 50,000 girls receive vocational training by the year 2015.

Incendiary Video Spotlights Murky YouTube Policies

Incendiary Video Spotlights Murky YouTube PoliciesToday in international tech news: YouTube was in the spotlight Wednesday as it grappled with whether or not to take down the inflammatory video cited in connection with violence in northern Africa. Also: A paper from Huawei says that the U.S. House is channeling its inner McCarthy, Nokia is laying off yet more workers and Samsung smartphone sales could top 30 million this year.

YouTube was the topic of much discussion Wednesday as it grappled with whether or not to take down the video widely linked to the violence in northern Africa that killed four Americans, including the U.S. ambassador to Libya, Christopher Stevens.
As Mashable pointed out, the video was still accessible on YouTube as of late Wednesday morning, U.S. time -- after protests had begun.
Fast Company contacted YouTube owner Google, to ask whether the video would be taken down. A spokesperson replied that videos sometimes raise "cultural and political issues," and added that YouTube tries to allow as much content as possible.
After that, however, Google blocked the video -- but only in Libya and Egypt. The companytold the Associated Press that its guidelines were sometime tricky to enforce because what is and isn't offensive often changes by country.
The video, which depicted the Muslim prophet Muhammad, is a trailer for a film which satirizes Islam. While it was reportedly uploaded more than two months ago, it only recently received international attention.
In a related story: Reuters reports that one of the four Americans killed at the U.S. consulate in Libya was a famous online gamer, Sean Smith. Going by the online pseudonym "Vile Rate," Smith was a noted player of Eve Online, a multi-player role-playing game which has hundreds of thousands of people.

Huawei Paper Bemoans U.S. Suspicions

A paper published by Huawei, China's biggest telecommunications equipment maker, asserts that the company's attempt to penetrate the U.S. market is being thwarted by "allegations based on allegations," according to Reuters.
The paper, released on the eve of Huawei's scheduled testimony before the House Intelligence Committee, also includes a reference to McCarthy-era witch-hunting, according to Reuters.
Huawei and fellow China-based ZTE Corp are at the heart of a lengthy investigation into the potential security threats they would pose in the U.S. There is concern that the companies would collude with the Chinese government or Chinese military to divulge sensitive information and, in the words of the House panel, "increase the opportunities for Chinese economic espionage."

Samsung Sales Projections

Samsung expects to sell more than 30 million units of the flagship Galaxy S3 this year, according to the Korea-based Yonhap News Agency.
The article, which quotes a company official, also said that sales of the Galaxy Note 2, Samsung's tablet scheduled to be released in October, will be more than double the previous model, the Galaxy Note 1, which sold more than 10 million units.
These projections add some intrigue to the ongoing duel between Samsung and its top competitor, Apple. In addition to the companies'myriad court cases, their device battle should rage on throughout 2012. Apple's newest iPhone, the iPhone 5, will go on sale on Sept. 21 in many Western markets and is expected to be available in South Korea, Samsung's home turf, in October after getting certified with the nation's communications watchdog.

Nokia Siemens to Lay Off Workers

Nokia Siemens Networks announced Wednesday that it will cut about 400 jobs in Finland as part of global efforts to shrink costs, according to the Associated Press.
Formed in 2007 when Finland-based Nokia and Germany-based Siemens teamed up, Nokia Siemens announced in November that it sought to nix one-fourth of its staff. The company also announced that it would cut about 3,000 of the 9,100 jobs from its German workforce.
